about
It's a long and complicated story....but the brief version is...
I am a "Collage Artist"
T
"The images are my Paint. The scissors are my Brush."
My main love is ‘cutting and gluing’, my collage works are all intricately hand cut, with no digital trickery. I construct my paper collages using images sourced from new and vintage magazines, discarded used books, encyclopaedias and postage stamps and whatever else I can lay my hands on. With each image being used only once, the artworks are totally original and are caught in a time and place with my subject matter ranging from 'familiar icons and kitsch subjects' to ‘surreal imagery’ intermixed with “social commentary and personal stories”.
I was born in Berlin and moved to Australia in 2001 and graduated from the National Art School in Sydney in 2011. After graduation I moved to Bundaberg where I have continued to persue my artistic career away from the hustle and bustle of a major city
In 2021 I was awarded First Prize at the Rio Tinto Martin Hansen Memorial Awards in Gladstone with my piece (right) "Physical Distancing" and 2nd Prize in the Lethbridge 20000 Small Scale Art Award, and was Highly Commended in the 2021 Clayton Utz Art Prize, vindication of my years of hard work in the field of collage.
