Marlies OAKLEY - contemporary collage artist

This playful exhibition is a combination of abstract and fantasy inspired works using colour as the main vehicle of expression.

 

Many of the works start off with loose abstract underpainting using left over paints and over time morph into shapes, figures or animals as they evolve on the canvas.  During this process I let my imagination guide me, some deliberately start out with a purpose in mind, maybe from a vision or memory but others are unplanned and produce suprising results.

 

Other works are deliberately abstract but even with these, the viewer may choose to see their own shapes and patterns.
